White House Will Deny Request In Attorneys Probe --Bush to Defy Congress, Sources Say 08 Jul 2007 The White House has decided to defy Congress's latest demand for information regarding the dismissal of nine U.S. attorneys, sources familiar with the decision said yesterday. Such an action would escalate the constitutional struggle and propel it closer to a court showdown.
Battle Expected on Dismissals Testimony 08 Jul 2007 The lawyer for a former White House aide [Sara Taylor] told lawmakers Saturday that he expected the Bush administration to try to block the aide from testifying about the dismissals of 93 United States attorneys. The statements came as the White House and Congress appeared to be moving toward a legal contest over Congressional subpoenas.
